Friday Five )) Breaking down the ballot initiatives
By Darren Katz, Co-Founder
In all the drama of the presidential election, there were a number of noteworthy ballot initiatives in states across the US. Here are just a few:
1 )) Colorado took a swing at the terrible electoral college.
2 )) Florida, my home state, which I increasingly despise, actually did something good. They raised the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
3 )) On our way to national legalization, you will soon be able to legally smoke weed in Arizona, New Jersey, and South Dakota.
4 )) Oregon, said to those states, “hold my beer” and, decided to decriminalize all drugs. You read that right, all drugs.
5 )) And in California money talks, so when Uber and Lyft spent over $200M to support an initiative declaring their drivers as independent contractors, they not surprisingly won.
